Constructed Landscapes develops through two distinct yet interconnected stages. The first is physical, slow and materially driven. Cement is worked directly onto canvases placed on the floor, creating dense surfaces marked by repeated gestures and linear reliefs. The works are then left to dry for several months, allowing the material itself to determine the conditions for the next stage.

Only afterwards does a second, radically different process begin. Precise geometric structures are drawn and painted entirely by hand over the irregular cement surfaces. Their controlled lines confront a ground shaped by weight, gesture, texture and time, bringing two apparently opposing methods into the same work.

Despite their geometric construction, the first works are titled Paisagem I and Paisagem II. The title deliberately unsettles their classification, shifting them away from a purely geometric reading and opening the possibility of landscape without representing one. The relief of the cement can suggest cultivated fields, territories or traces seen from a distance, while the geometry simultaneously resists that interpretation.

The series develops through this tension between control and physicality, precision and irregularity, geometry and landscape. Rather than resolving these oppositions, the works allow them to coexist, leaving what is seen deliberately open to interpretation.
